PLANNING FOR DEATH

Planning for Death

City, Chartered Accountants helps clients protect their wealth and minimise the tax liability due on their estate.

Lasting Power of Attorney and will writing

The firm advises on both types of Lasting Power of Attorney — one for property and financial affairs, one for health and welfare — allowing clients to appoint a trusted person to manage their affairs should they lose capacity. City, Chartered Accountants can also draft and hold wills for safe keeping, and advises on estate planning including trusts and the appointment of guardians for minor children.

Non-contentious probate — authorised by ICAEW

City, Chartered Accountants is authorised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales to carry out the reserved legal activity of non-contentious probate in England and Wales. The full probate service covers all paperwork, obtaining the Grant of Probate, transferring assets, calculating and mitigating tax liabilities, paying debts and legacies, and preparing estate accounts. Fees for obtaining the grant are typically in the region of £3,000 to £7,000 plus VAT, depending on complexity; timescales range from three months to two years.
